Bruce Young

Bruce Young is a Senior Strategic Advisor at Playbook, bringing more than 35 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, and strategic counsel across Canada’s most complex and high-consequence policy environments. His work includes advising organizations operating in defence and adjacent, regulated, national-interest contexts where political judgment, stakeholder alignment, and disciplined execution are essential.

An award-winning public affairs strategist and entrepreneur, Bruce has founded and scaled two multimillion-dollar advisory firms, providing trusted counsel to CEOs, boards, not-for-profit leaders, elected officials, and senior public servants. He has extensive experience supporting organizations as they navigate federal decision- making, public accountability, and reputational risk in highly scrutinized environments, both domestically and internationally.

Bruce previously served as Senior Advisor to the Right Honourable Paul Martin during his tenure as Prime Minister of Canada, with responsibility for British Columbia-specific federal priorities. He has also held senior roles including Director of Government Relations at Bell Canada, Special Assistant to the Federal Minister of Health, and three-time British Columbia Campaign Co-Chair for the Liberal Party of Canada.

In recognition of his lifetime contribution to Canadian advocacy, Bruce received the 2025 Public Affairs Association of Canada Award of Distinction. Previously he was a Business in Vancouver Forty Under 40 award recipient. He is an active member of the Public Affairs Association of Canada (BC) and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree from the University of British Columbia.
